Remembering Rob

May his legacy inspire us to live in love, boldness, and service to others.

A legacy of love.

Rob lived an inspired life. With a warm smile and an easy laugh, he had a natural way of welcoming us in, making us feel comfortable, noticed, loved. He was kind-hearted. Wise. Patient. Gentle and strong. He loved his wife and children dearly, and served the community alongside them. As a husband, father, friend, and man of God, Rob will be missed. We feel his loss so deeply because he was such a blessing in our lives. But we’re thankful for the hope we have in Jesus, and one day, we will laugh with him again. Until that day arrives, let’s continue his legacy.

With the help of their children, Rob and Yvonne founded Bags of Blessings on a foundational truth: love inspires. Their nonprofit provides a variety of bags filled with items for people in need—those who are homeless, incarcerated, or mourning. Bags of Blessings equips you to love your neighbor. We’ve all lost something, or someone. When we love our neighbors, the wounds begin to heal. Not just their wounds, but ours too. Step out and continue Rob’s legacy. Support the Fulbright’s dream of blessing Central Florida one inspired bag at a time.

In lieu of flowers or other material support, the Fulbright’s ask that you help continue Rob’s legacy by contributing to Bags of Blessings today.

Rob and I were on the lawn service crew together for our Junior year at FLA (Its tricky to graduate in 88…). We planted all of the banana trees now on the property as well as the palm trees. We did have a lot of down time. One memory I have it us doing something that now I look back on as very disgusting. We would get ice cubes in our mouth (we had unlimited Gatorade that we would mix each day and experimented with different concentrations) and would “spit” ice cubes to each other back and forth and see how far we could catch the projection from the other. Rob was the most steady even keeled solid guy you could know. I am praying so hard everyday for Yvonne and the girls. I cannot imagine what they are going through right now. I know they are in God’s hands. Can’t Wait to see how far we can share ice cubes from the river of life in heaven…..

Incredibly sad week for so many of us. I know that Rob’s legacy will continue until Jesus comes. He touched so many lives in such a positive way.
For me personally, I will never forget how Mr. Fulbright took the time from his very busy schedule to mentor and talk with me about a healthcare career. He was ALWAYS so kind, knowledgeable, answered my questions, easy to talk to, had good insight, encouraged me, and most of all, showed me more of Jesus.

This photo was taken at my mom’s 30+ year FH retirement and my 15 year anniversary in 2015. Rob stopped by the table and hugged my mom and was so happy to see all of us. We’ve always appreciated Rob’s smile and his ability to make a difference in others lives just by being him. He is loved by his Florida Hospital family, his church family, his school family and the community he served. We will miss you Rob, but we won’t say goodbye, just see you later when Jesus comes again to take us all home to live eternally with him. Our love, prayers and support go out to the whole Fulbright family. ❤️

When Rob would get up to address employees at Town Hall meetings, it had nothing to do with the FH topics at hand, but it seemed like he’d always weave in how thankful he was for his beautiful wife and daughters, how blessed and spoiled he was to have them. This gratefulness stood out to me.

An early memory I have of Rob is 30+ years ago- Earliteen SS road trip to the FL Keys (wow my parents were brave!)… I was the annoying tag along younger sister, gazing starry-eyed at Rob. He was jamming out on his Walkman and shared his headphones with me for a minute. Ever since, whenever I hear Night Ranger’s “Sister Christian”, my thoughts go back to that moment and I smile. I got to laugh about that silly memory when I shared it with Rob and Yvonne MANY years later when I was honored to be their nurse for beautiful Bella’s birth. I listened to that song on Tuesday and sobbed… for another life gone too soon. Constant prayers of peace and comfort for the entire beloved Fulbright family! Come soon Jesus!!! ❤️❤️❤️ 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Be joyful because you have hope.

Be patient when trouble comes. Pray at all times.

Always enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with Rob, Yvonne and the girls. Of the good memories some of my fondest are of the barn parties. Loved the planning, the party and especially the the time to hang out after the party was over. Rob is an inspiration and a model of a good man, husband, father, and follower of Christ.

I met Rob at our Town Hall at FL Hospital South. He has such charisma which causes people to like him instantly. My fondest memory is of the song “happy” playing as he went from dept to dept taking selfies with anyone who would entertain. Rob had such great positive energy.
I believe his death will affect people in a way that will glorify God because all things work together for good to those who love God.
I have been in continuous prayer for your family

Our hearts ache along with yours as we consider ourselves part of the Fulbright family. Growing up in Arkansas along with the Fulbrights has some very fond memories. We missed them so much when they moved to Florida. I was blessed again by their family when I spent a semester of nursing school at Florida Hospital and their home was my “home away from home.” That semester was bearable knowing I could spend Sabbath’s with them. The years have slipped by and it’s been a long time since our families have been all together, but it doesn’t change the fact that our hearts are close. Rob’s legacy will live on in the lives of his precious family and all the lives he touched. “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”

Love and prayers,

Fulbright family,
What a legacy Rob has left. I think he would agree, his most profound being his beautiful girls. What an amazing day it will be when Rob is once again reunited with his precious family and is able to see the powerful ripple effect his life had on them and so many others. You are all loved by so many and that is a testament to the way you have allowed God to use you to reach others. Take courage! This is not the end of the story. Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning! I’d like to share a poem I wrote when my cousin passed away. I hope it brings you encouragement.

You were gone too soon
You were gone too soon
Lost in a moment, your love carries on
It’s the blessed hope that spurs us on
You were gone too soon
This much is true
And time seems an enemy that must be subdued
But time is no enemy but rather a friend
For in time we’ll see your precious face again.

All our love and prayers,

Yvonne and family,

We want you to know that our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with you all in the days, weeks and months ahead.

On remembering Rob, those memories go back as far as grade school. Although closer to Mike (a grade above) and Michelle (a grade below), David remembers Rob as a friendly, cool and popular guy from his sister, Julie’s class. Julie recalls swinging on the swing set with Rob and other classmates in grade school as Rob sang “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” at the top of his lungs. Kathi remembers Rob’s graciousness as we stayed in his home years later in Florida.

The world has lost an amazing man.

Rob was such an amazing and giving person! One of my favorite memories were the numerous times we planned the FHC barn party together and after a hard day, when the party was over we would all sit in front of the barn until late at night just “debriefing” the events of the day and how can we make it better! Great times. He always gave so much of himself to so many people. He will surely be missed.

Dear Fulbright family,

Please accept my deepest condolences for your sudden loss this week. Rob was a leader among men, well respected and loved by everyone who knew him. We are grateful for how Rob, as a former Student Association President of Southern Adventist University, enhanced our campus. We are proud of his accomplishments as an alum, we are honored by his connection to us, inspired by his love for Christ, and greatly saddened by his loss. Rob leaves behind a legacy of dedication, caring, excellence, and warmth, which lives on in our hearts, in the lives of you, his immediate family, and through the many employees he mentored over the years. His passing leaves a void for many, but for none more than your family. Words are inadequate at a time like this, but please know that your Southern family mourns with you. In tribute to Rob we plan to donate $1,000 to Bags of Blessing.

We join you in looking forward to the day when we will all be reunited again when Jesus comes back to take us home. That day, when there will be no more sorrow or tears, cannot come soon enough. But right now, your family is in our prayers.

Sincerely,

David Smith

I will always remember the kindness Mr. Fulbright had. Every year at Forest Lake Academy they have a Pink Out volleyball game, the one they had last year they these VIP seats that you could buy and you get to sit courtside of the game and get food. A couple of my friends and I were sitting on the bleachers, and Mr. Fulbright came to our section and offered to pay for 4 students to sit in VIP seats, and my best friend and I were one of those 4 students. We will always remember that simple act of kindness and we will always have that wonderful memory. Thank you Mr. Fulbright for making a few dorm students happy. Thank you Mr. Fulbright for everything you have done for my school and community.

Man this is tough.

I had heard good things about Rob from my brother who worked with him at FH Winter Park. I first met Rob when I bumped into him at FH Kissimmee and I began to understand why my brother respected Rob so much.

When he joined our team at FH Altamonte my respect began to grow. He often joined us, the working folks 🙂 in the cafe for lunch. We would frequently see each other in the halls and he always seemed to make me feel like I was an important part of the team. While he was at Altamonte I celebrated my 10th year with Florida Hospital. Rob, being the man he was, made a point to go to each department, of each employee who was celebrating a service milestone and, celebrate with each of us.

Rod and Harriet – that also speaks a lot to who you are. Big hugs to you Harriet, my former team mate. I know this is a very difficult time for you.

My heart goes out to all of Rob’s family. Most of you I have not had the pleasure of meeting and I can’t imagine how difficult this must be for each of you.

But I must say, Mike – did your parents name you after me? lol. Your mother bragged of you often as we worked together and she was right about you. Your eulogy today was tremendous.

To the whole Fulbright family, thank you for sharing Rob with us and allowing him to enrich our lives.

I am very touched by all he has done for our hospital at Altamonte, and will never forget how humbled he was when I came across him in the hallways, on the floor, and during our Townhall meetings. I truly believed him when he said “WE all make the Altamonte difference”. I am BLESSED to have joined this organization at a time when Rob was fulfilling his mission. I pray over his family, his wife and children especially, and I know the love he had for them will be their strength. Mourning is to be expected for someone so special and loved, and even if it hurts….its ok..give yourself that time, and continue live his legacy because he will be counting on ALL of us to do so. Love to you ALL. God Bless…

Though Rob was wildly successful in his career, he will always be remembered most for his humor, his dedication to support his team in their own successes, and above all as a role model father. His ability to link healthcare delivery and inspire the team with a story about his girls was an unmatched gift. In the many years we worked together, Rob never let me see him without a positive message and a big grin. He set high standards for us, but we always felt his arm around us along with that push. It is said that our lives are made of two dates and a dash, and that we should live to make that dash a great story. The story of Rob is a great story, albeit a much shorter story than we would have written it. His legacy of engagement and servant leadership will be with us all forever.

Dear Coach and Mrs. Fulbright, Mike, Michelle, Shauna, Yvonne & beautiful daughters,

It is with deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers over your unspeakable loss in Rob. I could tell from the pictures and videos that Rob was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, friend, and leader. And although I could not be there in person this past weekend, please know that your family was in my thoughts and prayers.

Several years ago before we moved away from the Collegedale area in 2014, I met Rob in the foyer of the Collegedale church. I hadn’t seen Rob since I graduated from FLA in 85′. But we recognized each other amongst the crowd and he greeted me warmly. In those brief minutes, we caught up with each other. What impressed me about Rob was his sincerity and engaging personality. Now I realize that Rob could have taken the opportunity to talk about himself and his accomplishments but he didn’t. But that’s just the quality of individual that you all know so well. He genuinely inquired about me and wanted to know what I had been up to all those years. Although our encounter was brief, it was a quality moment between two former highschool boys reuniting decades later as middle aged men.

May you all be comforted with this belated Easter greeting which is used in Greece that encapsulates the message of hope, “Christos anesti! (Christ is risen!); “Alithos anesti!” (Indeed He is risen!). May this blessed hope that Jesus will raise up Rob on that day to immortality never more to part again overwhelm your hearts with the assurances of His love.

Thoughts and Prayers,

Patrick Im
